Bush Concedes Defeat in "War on Terror"

In a stunning series of revelations, the American people learned that President George W. Bush has conceded defeat to the terrorists he declared war on a short 4 years ago. In fact, it became known that the decision to surrender was made in 2002, less than a year after the events of 9-11 that triggered the "War on Terror".

After the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush told the country the attacks occurred because the terrorists "hate our freedom". He vowed to do whatever necessary to protect the freedoms our forefathers fought for as he announced the "War on Terror".

Unbeknown to the citizenry, the president and his advisors apparently decided early on that the situation was hopeless and they had declared a war that we could not win. Apparently as a concession to the freedom-hating terrorists, President Bush threw out the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, authorizing warrentless spying on American citizens.

Most observers agree this was the final step in the dismantling of American freedom, consumating the initial steps enacted in the Patriot Act, followed by the detaining of U.S. citizens indefinitely, without the formerly guaranteed rights of habeas corpus, due process, speedy trials etc.

Analysts are split on the reasons for these actions. One camp believes the administration took these unprecedented steps to eliminate freedom in America in order to fulfill the conditions of a secretly negotiated surrender to the terrorist enemy. They also claim the invasion and occupation of Iraq is a part of that settlement, benefitting both parties. It has provided a way for the Bush administration to keep knowledge of it's capitulation from it's citizens, and it has provided the terrorists with the most powerful recruiting tool they have known.

Others believe the Bush administration undertook these steps on their own initiative, hoping they would provide the enemy with sufficient reason to focus their energies and hatred elsewhere. If so, the desired results of that strategy apperently have yet to be realized.

All citizens are informed that further updates to this story will be issued through the Ministry of Truth.
